Desperatly in need to turn off for some days, we decided to spend a weekend in The Oitavos Hotel. The hotel, nestled in the coastal town of Cascais, was a gem discovered in the off-season. Though the beach was cold, the sea was an inspiring deep blue, so the view from our room was a thing of beauty. With the hotel electric bikes, we rode the bike lane to the sandy expanse of guincho beach and felt the salt spray on our faces. The nearby town of Sintra was a delight, even in the winter chill. But it was not the town nor the beach that made our stay truly memorable, it was the hotel. The staff, attentive and friendly, the facilities, impeccable and the service, second to none. It was a luxurious retreat in the heart of the coast, a treasure even in the dead of winter. The spa was a sanctuary, a place to forget the troubles of the outside world and lose oneself in relaxation. The treatments were expertly administered, and the facilities were pristine. The pool was a particular pleasure, with its warm water and soothing jets. We spent many hours there, watching the deep blue sea through the windows and feeling our cares melt away. It was a true oasis in the midst of a wintry landscape, and it made our stay all the more enjoyable. I recommend it highly to anyone seeking a taste of the sea, no matter the season.

We enjoyed the very large room with its terrace and sea view. The beds are king size and very comfortable from the mattress to the quality of the sheets. Bathrobes and slippers are provided. The salt water pool is just wonderful, and so are to comfortable pool beds. In the morning the breakfast room is spacious with an option to enjoy your breakfast outside as well. The breakfast spread is quite fantastic, everything you could wish for. Breads, cheeses, cold cuts, eggs per order, cereals, yoghurt, fruits, and lovely sweet pastries. It was my husband's birthday and he was surprised in the. morning with a beautiful slice of chocolate tart with a happy birthday card from the staff. I had not mentioned his birthday, this was so thoughtful. We had dinner there twice, excellent food, and a sommelier who did a wine paring that was fun and delicious. The staff in general was sweet and very helpful if you had questions or asked for suggestions.

Amazing room with amazing view - a shame about the crane between us and the ocean but that is not the fault of the hotel. Staff were lovely and could not have been more helpful. Breakfast - fabulous. Everything was so fresh and plenty of it. Negatives - a freezing cold swimming pool so nobody could swim in it because it was not heated. There was an option to pay to use the swimming pool in the spa but it doesn't seem fair to have to pay for this when the hotel stay was pricey so they have got this wrong and should invest in some pool heating. Also, the hotel is very far out of town and therefore it has a captive audience as there are not any local options for buying food and drink so a small beer was 8 Euros! That leaves a bad taste in the mouth. So it doesn't have it all right which is a shame as the accommodation was very smart and enjoyable to stay in generally.

Spent a weekend at The Oitavos with a group of girlfriends and it was an amazing experience! From the food to the room experience everything was excellent. Highlights: from the bed, to the comfort of the pillows, and definitely the bathtub view to the ocean. The breakfast has a great variety of fresh fruits, local and international pastry, cheeses. Eggs benedict are a must have. The spa offers a wide range of treatments with wide windows to the outside surroundings of pine trees. Truly recommend the Therapeutic Massage. One of the best massages I ever had. I did the 50 min one, but if I knew it was going to be so marvelous I would have done the 80min session:)

Chilled out days at this gem of a hotel, don’t be fooled on arrival you feel you’ve arrived at a hospital but inside awaits a wonderful stay, we stayed on the top floor with a large suite that had a large terrace. Plenty of room, more a junior suite than a usual bedroom. The restaurant was impeccable and the sommelier was an authentic superstar, with surprising us with the best of Portuguese wine. The pool area was large and enough space and privacy for all. Each staff was a superstar, nothing was too much.
